Puppy Class
For puppies 8 weeks to 5 months old, we will introduce basic commands such as sit, down, and heel. We will discuss house training techniques and we will reinforce proper socialization to crowds, other dogs, bicycles, and children. Puppy classes will run as weekly group sessions lasting for 5 weeks and be limited to 8 puppies. Puppies should come to session with a well-fitted soft collar and a leash. Our group classes for adult dogs (age 6 months and older) will focus on basic commands, such as sit, down, and stay. We will introduce concepts such as leave it and off as well as perfect leash manners. We will guide the dogs to be well socialized and pleasant family members. Group Class for Beginners will run weekly for 5 weeks and be limited to 8 dogs. Cost: $450 Location: Pawsitive Westchester, Yorktown HeightsGroup Class for Advanced
This class is for adult dogs who have learned the basics and are ready for some fun! In this class we will focus on recalls, hand signals and we will go out of our way to find distractions and conquer them! Group Class for Advanced will run weekly for 5 weeks. Private sessions are available for any age dog or puppy. Learning a concept, such as “place” in a group setting is helpful, but depending on the owner and dog, it may be beneficial to have hands on help in the dog’s actual environment. Private sessions may always be conducted at my home, however, if that is the owner’s preference. Cost $175/hour Location: your home or Pawsitive Westchester, Yorktown Heights
Evaluation Process/Additional Information
I will meet with all new clients, with their dogs, before they are scheduled for group class. This allows the owner to be comfortable with me and allows me the time to evaluate the dog's behavior before adding them to a group setting. All dogs registered for group classes should be appropriatly vaccinated and in general good health.
Private clients may have an evaluation in person, or we can speak on the phone. Evaluations are free within a 20 mile radius of 10598 and $40 otherwise and will take about 15 minutues.
Additional Services
For established clients, I offer regular or "as needed" dog walking and dog sitting. Established clients would be currently enroled in either a group class or private sessions, or recently graduated. The price for walking and dog sitting services will be discussed when I know the client's needs. Please reach out to me to discuss in detail.
About me
I'm Naomi, the owner-operator of Pawsitive Westchester. I hold a B.S. in Zoology from North Carolina State University and have 30 years experience training dogs in both group classes and individual sessions. I'm thrilled to bring my passion for dog training to Westchester, a very special place that I have been lucky enough to call "home" for the past two decades! At Pawsitive Westchester, I believe in the power of positive reinforcement and reward-based methods. I have worked with animals in local shelters and veterinary offices, and have gained extensive knowledge about the unique needs and behaviors of dogs. With this expertise, I am dedicated to unlocking the full potential of every dog I work with and helping them thrive and become well-behaved companions. Building trust and nurturing strong bonds with dogs are at the core of my approach. When not working with clients, I enjoy hiking with my golden retriever, spending time with my horses, and exploring the surrounding area with my hilariously funny husband and our six gorgeous children.
